Produce

Look what I had ready to pick when we returned from the beach: our first ripe tomatoes, green beans, a bell pepper, a squash, a zuc, and a handful of raspberries (that Izzy had mostly eaten before this pic). Harvesting is sooo much fun!

Catalytic Converters Save Hearing

Back in our WORKING car.

Want the story?
We drove down to Hilton Head Island to go for a long weekend celebration for Justin's company's 50th Anniversary. The company paid for us to go for two nights, and we had the option to go ourselves for one extra night. So Thursday evening after having been at the beach in the afternoon just the 4 of us, we met up with Justin's parents and the LaPlants to go to Outback for dinner. When we came back out to our car after about 1.5 hours, little did we know something would go very wrong. I was strapping Clara into her seat when Justin turned on the car. I screamed and jumped back cause it was so loud and popped! Really, for the first second, I thought a motorcycle was right next to me, and then I thought the car was going to explode. In the time we were eating dinner, thieves sawed our catalytic converter off from under our Sequoia. Justin's dad dropped us off at the hotel, and went back to be with Justin while the cops came out and then AAA towing. Justin and the cop crawled under other SUVs, but they hadn't been hit. Only one of ours was taken, so they are guessing that the thieves were spooked before finishing. The autobody shop said they've had 18 or so of these happen in the last couple months! The platinum inside the c.c. is worth some $$$! Just the part from Toyota cost $1500, which makes me thankful for car insurance. We are thankful that we got our car back on Saturday before coming home on Sunday.

Happy Father's Day!

On Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Izzy brought out a gift bag for Daddy (much to his surprise since he didn't even know it was Father's Day weekend). We got to celebrate our DADDY for 4 days, but I'm pretty sure we could celebrate longer. I don't think there are too many dads that can keep up with the high bar that Justin has raised for fatherhood. He is something else.

I also think it's gonna be really hard for Izzy and Clara to find a man that lives up to their expectations for a godly husband/father!

Poppy & Grammy

Izzy got to spend one of our days on the beach with Poppy & Grammy. She loved building and wrecking sand castles with Grammy. Their room was just down from ours, so Izzy went to visit and entertain Grammy & Poppy several times.

Saturday Dinner

On Saturday evening, we had a night out for just the two of us with Justin's company. The dinner was superb, and the owner of the company gave a talk. I enjoyed hearing the history of AC Controls. You will not believe that there are several employees in the company who have been there for 25, 30, 30+ years! I think the majority of the employees have been there over 10 years. What a great company to work for. :)

Friday Night Apps and Cocktails

On Friday evening, we went to a reception on the Ocean Front Deck at the Westin in HHI. The food was delicious: build your own nachos, fresh seafood apps, meat station with horseradish, etc.

Friends

Tom LaPlant has been friends with Justin for a long time, and was a groomsman in our wedding. Justin works for AC Controls, and Tom works for a branch of AC Controls called AC Technical Services. That means both of our families were together this past weekend at HHI. We were thankful to have time with the LaPlants (or in Izzy's words--the Plants). I loved my "grown-up time" with Dawn, and Abbie babysat the girls one evening while we went to the company dinner. Thanks, Abbie!

Our sand crabs!

Here's a few pics of our little sand crabs. They LOVED the sand and the water! Izzy didn't want to leave, but it will be really fun to go on our own family beach vacation in late August.

I am soooo happy to report that neither Izzy or Clara were sun-burned. YAY!
